IS Your Life Ruined???

We’ve all heard somebody say it at least once in our lives . . . “_______ ruined my life!” Let’s take a closer look at that statement.
Somewhere along the way, someone did something to me, or made a decision that made a lasting impact on me. But, DID it truly RUIN my life? Personally, I have a few issues with that particular phrase . . .
First of all, it gives an awful lot of power to a single individual. Think about it. Is it really possible that one act, committed by one person, could completely change the entire course of another person’s life? I don’t think so.
Yes, there are extreme circumstances that may serve as an exception --- to a point. Acts of violence which cause permanent physical damage or limitations. Inexcusable? Yes. Unthinkable? Absolutely. Horribly wrong and sinful? No doubt. But . . . whether or not it RUINS my life would be up to ME, wouldn’t it? I cannot think of any better way to conquer evil than to choose to rise above any damage or harm it tries to inflict upon me.
Which bring me to my next issue with this too-often-used phrase: IS my life ruined by what that person did? OR, is this an opportunity for me to grow in a new direction? To learn some new lesson which I never before thought I needed? I believe, with all my heart, that I always have a choice!
Whether I’ve heard it from a loved one, friend, or acquaintance --- or even in a TV program or movie --- I disagree with this defeatist statement. It implies --- no, it claims --- that any one person has the power to totally change ANY other person’s life at any given time. That my whole life hinges entirely on what some other PERSON does or says!
Are YOU that powerful? I know I’M not!
In fact, only ONE Person Who has EVER lived had that kind of power . . . Jesus Himself! HE can change everything about my life --- or yours. AND, He can make wondrous treasures arise out of every sad or horrible thing that has ever happened to either one of us!
He can use every single fragment of it to create an amazing mosaic of your life, or mine. All we have to do is ASK! In His Hands, NOTHING has the results that the enemy intended for it to have. In Jesus’ Hands, NOTHING is EVER ruined!
To His Glory . . . BJ
