WELCOME TO B.L.O.G.

January 28, 2026

Eight years ago, when I created our All That I Am Today website, it was my response to a call from God.  I cannot --- in all honesty --- tell you that it was IN response to His call.  Why?  Because a web site was NOT what He had told me to do.

In late summer, 2017, I began hearing a message in my mind:  “I want you to write a blog,” it said.  Those words were spoken into my mind many times over the next few months.  But, I knew nothing about blogs, so I proceeded in my own understanding (total disobedience to a message in Proverbs 3!).

I created what I could see and imagine, instead of learning about what God had told me.  I simply couldn’t wrap my mind around what such a task might look like, so I did what I could understand.  I now realize that I was being disobedient.  Despite that truth, God has been patient with me through this season . . . far more patient than I deserve.

I will not sit here and tell you that these eight years have been a mistake, because  I don’t believe that it has been.  Rather, I have come to believe that God has used this time to help me grow in my walk with Him, and to learn more about what obedience should look like.  I believe He has used these eight years to prepare me for this new venture.  I believe that God uses everything, just as we are told in Romans 8:28.

Recently, I once again began hearing a prompting about the blog.  I still don’t know much about what that is supposed to look like, but I AM listening.  And I want to obey; to follow where God is leading me.  Also,  I DO know that, many times during the course of any given week, I see or hear something that stirs my mind to comment.

Whenever that happens, I find myself wanting to talk to someone about it.  Or, to write down my thoughts on the matter . . . and to share those thoughts with others.  In the past, I’ve never done so, because there was no place to put the thoughts I might write.  So, they have always just rattled around in my head, looking for an exit.  Today, I think I’m finally getting it . . .

God said, ‘. . . write a blog.’  God is offering me a place to put all those thoughts I often long to write down!  An opportunity to share what’s in my mind --- in a way that brings glory to Him.  Awesome!

However, since I am still fairly clueless about blogs in general, I’ve asked for God’s help to structure His blog in a way I can understand.  The result?  I will be using this space to write down the thoughts God plants in my mind.  We will share them with all of you and, as always, invite you to share them with your friends.

Since this won’t be a blog in any traditional sense, I also sought God’s help with naming this new feature.  It took a while for me to hear His idea.  What we came up with is an acronym:  B.L.O.G. --- BJ’s Learning to Obey God.

That will be the name of this new feature.  I am hoping it becomes a weekly feature (or, at least, bi-weekly); though I do not yet know on which day of the week we will publish it.  It is not my desire that this should take anything away from our Witness Stand, Tuesday’s Treasures, or our monthly Sharing What We Know features that are already in place.

So, I ask you to bear with me as I learn what this feature is supposed to look like, and hear God’s leading for its perfect location in our ‘schedule’.  I will do my best, with help and guidance from the Holy Spirit, to structure every commentary within the framework of obedience to God.  My hope is that, in doing so, we might all have a chance to grow in that area of our faith.

My friends, welcome to B.L.O.G.!!!

To His Glory . . . BJ
